The Nathaniel Idowu U-16 Football League enters Week 2 tomorrow with five fixtures scheduled across two venues, as teams return to action following an entertaining opening weekend that produced 22 goals.

Week 1 provided plenty of drama, with early goals, big wins, comebacks and hard-fought draws setting the tone for what promises to be another exciting round of matches.

With valuable points at stake, the teams will be looking to build on their opening-day performances, correct their mistakes and strengthen their positions on the table.

Fortune FA announced their intentions in Week 1 with a remarkable comeback victory over St. Petersburg FA after conceding just 42 seconds into the match. Their substitutes, Lateef Wasiu, Ibrahim Olaoye and Odesola Odunayo, made a significant impact and demonstrated the strength of the team’s bench.

Divinely Blessed FA also made headlines on the opening day when Ugwuokolie Chidalu found the net after just six seconds. They will now be hoping to turn their blistering start into a first victory of the campaign.

Debutants SC Heritage showed plenty of character in their opening fixture, with Jonathan Norbert scoring a late brace to earn his side a point against Moore Wins FA. Their resilience will give them confidence going into another challenging encounter.

Bright Star FA produced one of the most impressive performances of Week 1, recording a commanding 5-1 victory over Seraphic FA.

Valentine Aniako was the star of the show, scoring four goals, including a second-half hat-trick. His explosive start has immediately put him among the leading contenders for the Golden Boot.

Atico Football Academy make their league debut against arguably the toughest opponent they could have faced. They will need a disciplined defensive approach if they are to contain Bright Star’s attacking threat.

This encounter promises to be about more than three points. It is also a chance for revenge.

Both sides shared the spoils in their opening fixtures, with Ajegunle United drawing 1-1 against Young Eleven FA, while Moore Wins Foundation FA were held by SC Heritage after Jonathan Norbert’s late brace.

However, the history between the two sides adds an extra layer of intrigue. In the U-14 edition of the competition, Moore Wins defeated Ajegunle United 3-1, and Ajegunle will be eager to settle the score when the two teams meet again.
