A support group, Bola Tinubu Renewed Hope Youth Network, has cautioned against attempts to undermine the growing political coalition backing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The group, in a statement signed by Comrade Olu Segun on Tuesday, said President Tinubu’s support base extended beyond the formal structures of the All Progressives Congress (APC), stressing that political parties, leaders and grassroots movements outside the ruling party had also expressed support for his administration and re-election.

The group was reacting to a reported statement by Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma, following a meeting of APC governors in Abuja on Monday, that the governors had not entered into any formal agreement with individuals or opposition political parties ahead of the 2027 elections.

It described the position as unnecessary and capable of sending the wrong signal to political actors who had identified with the President across party lines.

“Governor Uzodinma’s statement is not only unnecessary but politically dangerous. At a time when President Tinubu requires the support of every patriotic Nigerian and every political structure willing to contribute to his success in 2027, why would anyone seek to diminish or deny the existence of these relationships?” the group said.

It added that the APC remained the platform on which Tinubu was elected but argued that support for his administration and re-election had extended beyond the party.

The group cited the political coalition associated with FCT Minister and former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, as well as political actors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Accord and the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), among others, as examples of support for the President outside the APC.

It said such political relationships should be strengthened rather than discounted because they were not necessarily formalised through agreements with the APC.

“Those who have stood with President Tinubu from outside the APC must not be treated as political strangers today simply because they belong to different parties. Political alliances are built on trust, understanding and shared interests,” it said.

The group also raised concerns over reports that Uzodinma had an interest in serving as Director-General of Tinubu’s 2027 campaign, saying political ambitions should not interfere with the broader objective of securing the President’s re-election.

“Governor Uzodinma is entitled to his political ambitions, including his reported interest in serving as Director-General of the President’s campaign. But personal ambition must never become bigger than the collective interest of President Tinubu’s re-election,” the group said.

It urged President Tinubu and members of his political circle to focus on consolidating existing relationships and expanding the President’s support base across party lines.

The group, Bola Tinubu Renewed Hope Youth Network, said broader political cooperation would be important to the President’s re-election campaign and urged all supporters to prioritise the collective objective ahead of individual political interests.
