A total of 689 competitors from 14 i-Fitness branches across the Lagos Mainland will participate in GameFest 2.0 as the fitness company seeks to encourage healthier lifestyles and strengthen relationships among its members.
The competition will take place on Saturday, November 7, at the Legacy Pitch, National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, with activities scheduled to begin at 7.30am.
In a statement on Tuesday, the company said the event was designed to reward members’ loyalty, build stronger ties between branches and encourage public participation in fitness activities.
More than 3,500 guests have registered to attend, including over 2,300 i-Fitness members, according to the organisers.
The Mainland Edition, themed “Different Squad, Unstoppable Together”, will feature football, a 100m sprint, a 200m relay, a sack race and a lifting challenge.
Eight branches have qualified for the football knockout stage following preliminary matches played ahead of the event. They are Magodo, Ogudu, Ikorodu, Iponri, Surulere, Ago Palace, Opebi and Acme.
The football tournament will run through to the final, while sprint heats will determine the finalists in the 100m event. The lifting challenge will take place throughout the day in a separate arena.
The Founder and Chief Executive Officer of i-Fitness, Foluso Ogunwale, said GameFest reflected the company’s aim of bringing people together through healthier living.
“When we started i-Fitness, our goal was to build a community of people who choose to live healthier lives. GameFest is where you see that community at its best,” he said.
Ogunwale commended members who had prepared for the competition and invited Lagos residents to attend.
“We are proud of every member who has trained for this day, and we invite Lagos to come out and watch.”
The company’s Chief Marketing Officer, Olajumoke Abiodun, said the competition gave members a shared goal beyond their regular exercise routines.
“GameFest gives our members a reason to train with purpose and a day to celebrate what they have built together,” she said.
Abiodun said the first edition, organised for the company’s Island branches, attracted more than 1,500 people.
“Our first edition brought out over 1,500 people, and this year more than 3,500 have registered. That tells us people want fitness to be social, competitive and fun.”
The organisers said guests would participate in an Afro-dance warm-up and a closing dance-off, with a live DJ providing entertainment between events and a food and fitness marketplace operating throughout the day.
