Favi returns vibrantly “Omo Oro”

Fast-rising Afrobeats maestro, Favi, is back on rotation with a new soothing spinner dubbed, ‘Omo Oro.’ The song sees the Lagos-based singer champions soar across soothing sonic lines to serve a self-motivational anthem.

Across the song’s euphoric log-drums and drowning piano chords, Favi, born Favour Ikemefuna, showcases a masterful delivery, lacing the song with relatable indigenous lyricism.

“I got inspired from a past encounter from a female months ago. Omo Oro, which basically means “Son Of Wealth” is somehow self explanatory. But I found a way to relate it with my experience from how girls have treated me in the past. I said “past” because I won’t let a girl take advantage of me or cause me emotional stress anymore,” the singer recounts his creative muses in a chat with Guardian Music.

Honing his talent in the bustling Lagos suburbs of Bariga, Favi picked up influences in music from Fela Kuti, as well as other American maestros, such as Lil Wayne, Michael Jackson, Post Malone, Dr. Dre, Rick Ross, among others. His foray into Afrobeats started professionally, in 2020, where he showed prowess with records like ‘Flexxx’, ‘Vibes and Vices’, among others.

He also announced his sophomore body of work, an extended play scheduled to be released in 2024.

On his typical creative process, Favi notes that he begins “with inspiration drawn from everyday life, emotions, or the world around me. I then immerse myself in research and exploration, gathering diverse influences. Sketching and experimenting follow, allowing ideas to take shape. Collaboration often plays a role, fostering fresh perspectives.

Refinement comes through iteration, ensuring the final piece resonates authentically with my vision. It’s a fluid and evolving process that marries intuition with deliberate craftsmanship.”

On what’s next for him, the young musician reveals that he is focused on “working with other artists and trying out fresh ideas that really capture the essence of what I love to create. It’s all about mixing tradition with new approaches, pushing my skills further, and connecting with people through meaningful stories.”

I’m on a mission to make art that sticks with people, and I can’t wait to see where this creative adventure takes me!
He further notes that his creative vision remains to craft emotive narratives that transcend boundaries, resonating with a diverse audience. “I aim to blend innovation with authenticity, creating a visual and emotional impact that lingers in the hearts of those who experience my work. Ultimately, I seek to contribute to a cultural tapestry that reflects the richness and depth of human experience.”
