TeeRoy Tyobee steps out with IEMBER

Afro-fusion artist TeeRoy Tyobee has stepped out with his six-tracker EP IEMBER (JOY) through his independent label, Royz Houz. The culturally-rich project is about finding happiness after struggle.
“Iember” means joy in the Tiv language, and the title track sets the tone for an EP that moves between cultural pride, romance, childlike freedom and street-level ambition. The project pairs Afrobeat rhythms with soulful melodies and places Tiv heritage at its centre.

The title track, “JOY (Iember)”, is an Afro-fusion anthem about choosing gratitude over pain and dancing through life’s storms. “MAMA AFRICA” pairs soulful melodies with Afrobeat rhythms in a tribute to the African woman and to Africa as a feeling rather than a place, built around pride, identity and homecoming. “WAN TIV” turns to Benue State, honouring Tiv women, the Anger fabric and Tiv heritage in a modern Afrobeat setting that carries Middle Belt culture to a wider audience.

“AUTOMATIC” is a smooth Afro-fusion love song about falling for someone when the odds look slim and choosing trust, patience and growth over fear. “HAPPY CHILD” is a light, bouncy Afrobeat song about returning to childlike freedom, worrying less and smiling more. “GRIND” brings hard-hitting Afrobeat drums and street-smart lyrics to the story of the everyday Nigerian hustler who wakes early, stays up late and keeps going through setbacks.

TeeRoy Tyobee’s writing moves easily between heritage, love and daily hustle. IEMBER (JOY) shows that range across six songs, with the Tiv language and Middle Belt culture front and centre rather than in the background. TeeRoy co-produced the EP, which features production from Gangalee, Step the Legend, Ebenezer Alabi and Olugbenga Joseph Korede.

“Joy is a choice I had to make more than once. Every song on this EP comes from that place, whether I am honouring where I come from, falling in love, or working through a hard week,” TeeRoy Tyobee says.
