Ethiopian Airlines Group marked the 2026 International Women’s Day (IWD) with all-women-operated flights to eight destinations, highlighting its eight decades in service.
The historic event was attended by government officials, its executives, women leaders and women employees representing Ethiopian Airlines’ workforce and partner organisations.
The all-women flights were operated to Cairo, Djibouti, Nairobi, Frankfurt, Accra, Mumbai, Windhoek and Dire Dawa.
Commenting on the event, Ethiopian Airlines Group Chief Executive Officer, Mesfin Tasew, said the airline had consistently led the way in advancing women’s participation across all areas of its business, ensuring equal opportunities in flight operations, leadership and corporate positions.
Tasew explained that through the airline’s inclusive culture and strong commitment to training and professional development, it had empowered women to thrive in various roles, including those traditionally dominated by men.
“This year’s celebration is especially unique as we are marking the day with eight all-women flights highlighting our 80th anniversary,” he said.
Women currently represent approximately 40 per cent of the Ethiopian Airlines Group workforce, serving across diverse business divisions.
