Reckitt West Africa has emphasised the importance of maintaining proper hygiene habits among commuters and fitness enthusiasts, despite constant exposure to heat and sweat.
The company’s Marketing Director, Boma Harrison, spoke during the launch of the second edition of its OwnTheSweat campaign, tagged OwnTheSweat2.0, driven through Dettol Cool Soap to promote active living while encouraging protection against germs and body odour.
According to her, the campaign responds to the realities of daily life in Nigeria, where a large proportion of the population commutes in temperatures ranging between 25°C and 35°C, making sweating a common experience.
Harrison said the campaign would feature a series of activations across major Nigerian cities, including Lagos, Abuja, Kano, and Port Harcourt. She said pop-up events would be hosted in selected gyms over the next two months.
She added that the engagements would include immersive games and fitness challenges designed to test endurance, agility, and confidence, while reinforcing the importance of hygiene in active lifestyles.
She said the initiative would extend to schools through a Cool School Pop-up, aimed at instilling healthy hygiene habits among students and introducing them early to the benefits of freshness, protection, and confidence.
Harrison stated that Dettol Cool Soap is formulated to provide up to 99 per cent germ protection, alongside a cooling sensation capable of lowering skin temperature by up to 5°C, as well as long-lasting defence against body odour for individuals on the move.
She said the success of the previous edition showed that Nigerians with active lifestyles are willing to embrace products that combine hygiene with confidence.
Harrison added that OwnTheSweat2.0 is designed to expand the campaign’s reach through gym and school engagements, creating opportunities for more Nigerians to embrace movement, push their limits, and remain confident while staying protected.
She noted that the initiative reinforces the brand’s commitment to supporting Nigerians with active, on-the-go lifestyles by offering reliable germ protection and a cooling experience suited to the country’s climate.
