Members of the African Council for Communication Education (ACCE) Nigeria have called for abstract ahead of the 26th International Conference scheduled for Calabar, Cross Rivers State.
National President, ACCE Nigeria, Prof. Abdultahi Bashir, disclosed the event is scheduled for October 21 to 24, 2025 at University of Calabar, Cross River State.
Themed, “Communication and Indigenous Knowledge Systems (IKS) in the Era of Al, Big Data, and Cultural Transformation,” the don observed there is a seeming disconnect between the two forms of knowledge system, which is still drawing IKS back as evidenced from theories and praxis in communication studies even in Africa.
To him, “this is in spite the fact that IKS is still being useful in many spheres of life especially in Africa. Therefore, ACCE, Nigeria chapter wishes to invite scholars across the world explore this issue in its 25th Annual International Conference. The theme is very instructive to research and analyse the intersection and friction between IKS and advanced ICTs which is leading to transformation of knowledge and praxis in communication discipline.”
The sub themes are, ‘Journalism and Media Studies: Coverage and framing IKS compared to ICTs, Al, Big Data’; Public Relations: Intersection between IKS, ICTs, Al, Big Data in modern PR’; ‘Advertising and Marketing Communication: Disconnect between IKS and modern Advertising’; ‘Film and multimedia: Images of IKS in Local and International movies’; ‘Development Communication: IKS and modern development communication practice’ and others.
Prospective participants are expected to submit abstracts on the above main theme and sub-themes to the professional divisions, bring 10 hard copies of full paper (after acceptance) to the conference for presentation purposes.
The abstract should be 250 words or less. Abstract should bear the title, name of author(s), full contact details (emails, phone number)and institutional affiliation) and the sub-theme (Professional Division) under which it is being submitted for consideration.
Any abstract outside the conference theme/sub-themes will not be accepted for presentation in addition to the above send soft copy of full paper to [email protected] for presentation on October 25, 2025. Deadline for submission of abstract is August 24, 2025.
