In commemoration of the 2019 World Sleep Day and in its drive to add comfort to people’s lives, Mouka Limited, a manufacturer of mattresses and foam products in Nigeria, has opened a Sleep Gallery at its corporate head office in Lagos. The Ikeja Gallery is the eight sleep gallery across the country.

World Sleep Day is an initiative of the World Sleep Society to recognise sleep and its significant impact on health. This yearly event focuses on the many burdens of sleep problems as well as the importance of healthy sleep at any age. This year’s theme is ‘Healthy Sleep Healthy Aging.’

While speaking on the Importance ‘Of Quality Sleep Across All Ages,’ Dr. Rufai Ahmad of Bayero University, Kano, said sleep being a state of natural unconsciousness from which one can be aroused, the process also allows growth, regulates emotions, improves appetite, productivity and quality of life.

Ahmad, who is also the National President of Nigeria Society of Physiotherapists (NSP), stated that sleeping on a wrong mattress will alter the natural curvature of the spine, thereby resulting in musculoskeletal problems and possible injury.

According to him, “Newborn babies need at least 17 hours of sleep daily, while teenagers would need up to 10 hours of quality sleep to perform optimally. Adults between the ages of 26 and 64 should get at least nine hours sleep, while those above 64 years can still be alright with eight hours of quality sleep daily.”

Also, the CEO of Mouka Limited, Mr. Raymond Murphy, stressed that quality sleep is a treasured function and one of the core pillars of health. Mr. Murphy highlighted that when sleep fails, health declines, decreasing the quality of life and this explains Mouka’s relentless commitment to providing the best mattresses, pillows and other products that enhance the quality of sleep.

Emphasising the importance of quality sleep to overall health at any age, Senior Marketing Manager, Mouka Limited, Mrs. Tolu Olanipekun, showcased Mouka’s range of products specially designed for different phases of life. From the Dreamtime mattresses for children which are water resistant and breathable, to the Regal Orthopedic mattress, Mouka has different offerings from cradle to adulthood.

Commercial Director of Mouka Limited, Mr. Dimeji Osingunwa, expatiated on the features of Mouka’s Sleep Galleries. According to him, consumers can experience Mouka’s wide range of products while experts help them choose the right mattress, pillows, beds, beddings and other lifestyle products to suit their physiological needs, style and budget.

Big Brother Nigeria Season 3 finalist, Tobi Bakre, also joined the World Sleep Day celebration at Mouka Limited.
