Youth group honours State House Press Corps chairman Anule

Chairman of the State House Press Corps, Dr. Emmanuel Anule

The Democratic Youth Assembly of Nigeria (DYAN) on Friday honoured the Chairman of the State House Press Corps, Dr. Emmanuel Anule, with its prestigious Leadership Prize, citing his exemplary leadership, commitment to media professionalism and mentorship of young journalists.

The award, presented in Abuja, also saw Dr. Anule inducted into the organisation’s Hall of Fame in recognition of what DYAN described as his outstanding contributions to journalism, nation-building and democratic governance.

Presenting the award, DYAN National Coordinator and Chairman of its National Executive Council, Bashir Nasuru Garki, said the honour reflected the high regard in which Nigerian youths hold the veteran journalist for his integrity, professionalism and transformative leadership within the State House Press Corps.

He described Dr. Anule as “a veteran journalist, a mentor to many and a gigantic force in the Nigerian journalism industry,” noting that his stewardship has strengthened the relationship between the Presidency and the media while raising professional standards within the Corps.

Garki said the award was in recognition of Dr. Anule’s “unwavering commitment to the advancement of society, dedication to strengthening others, and tremendous contribution to the actualisation of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.”

He also commended the Press Corps chairman for successfully coordinating the maiden Presidential Press Corps Dinner held earlier this month at the Presidential Villa, describing the event as a landmark engagement that attracted President Bola Tinubu, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, senior government officials and captains of industry.

According to him, the successful hosting of the event further demonstrated Dr. Anule’s exceptional leadership and organisational capacity.
Garki explained that DYAN, a non-partisan youth organisation registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission, the Federal Ministry of Budget and National Planning and the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), is committed to promoting youth empowerment, peacebuilding, education, philanthropy and leadership development.

He said the organisation would continue to celebrate individuals whose service and leadership inspire younger generations.

“For a youth organisation to single you out for this honour is an encouragement for you to continue demonstrating excellence in leadership and public service,” Garki said as he formally inducted Dr. Anule into the DYAN Hall of Fame.

Responding, Dr. Anule expressed gratitude for the recognition, describing it as a humbling honour and a call to greater service.

He revealed that he had taken time to study the organisation after receiving its invitation and was impressed by its vision, programmes and contributions to national development.

“I am deeply honoured by this recognition. After reading your profile and learning about what you have been doing for this country, I was truly amazed. This award is both an encouragement and an inspiration for me to remain committed to serving Nigeria and advancing the journalism profession,” he said.

The ceremony was attended by senior officials of DYAN, members of the State House Press Corps, friends and associates of the award recipient.

DYAN said it would sustain its recognition and engagement programmes aimed at celebrating public servants, professionals and civic leaders whose contributions promote democratic values, strengthen institutions and drive national development.
