Women have been urged to focus on building transgenerational wealth, thrive in their chosen fields, and leave footprints for their offspring. This was the thrust at a conference themed, The Winning Woman organised by Gtext Suites in Lagos.

Speaking at the event, the convener and CEO, Gtext Suites, Bisi Akintayo noted that a lot of people come to the surface of the earth and do not leave a footprint; people remember them for their names and the children they gave birth to and nothing else. It is important to build people and make an impact in their lives that it creates a ripple effect in society.

“Also, leaving assets for our children is key. Our forefathers and grandfathers left assets for some of us which we are riding on now and multiplying, that promotes transgenerational wealth.”

Akintayo stressed that while more men have been involved in creating transgenerational wealth, women are not exempted and should get involved in building assets for their children. “My mother-in-law of blessed memory was able to build assets which I also benefited from, I am also threading that part and I want more women to get involved and add as much value to their children.

She noted that being involved does not create any form of competition with your spouse or a show-off of who is doing better, rather it is a form of adding your quota to development so that posterity will remember you including your children who will be proud of you.

While adding who a winning woman is, she added that she is a thriving woman who excels in any field in which she finds herself. “Be it agriculture, business, education, or real estates, a winning woman thrives and makes her mark in the field where she finds herself.

Reeling out words of advise to women, Mrs. Helen Boyo-Ekwueme, wife of the First Vice President of Nigeria, Alex Ekwueme said that being a focused woman keen on achieving her set goals is key. She stressed that being multifaceted, ambitious, dogged, and steadfast makes you a winning woman.

While Mrs. Nwagba Emmanuel, a retiree enjoined women to be nice to one another and help each other thrive in whatever sphere of life they find themselves. Other speakers at the event include founder, Midridge International, Abiola Adeiran; President, African-Arab Women Chamber of Commerce, Adeshola, Helen Onadipe; CEO, Centre Stage Company, Dr. Naomi Osemedua; CEO, TLC Widow’s Outreach, Edirin Essiet and Financial literacy educator, Sarah Amana.
