It is no longer news that the female fashion is ‘stealing’ looks and pieces from the men’s wardrobe and we couldn’t be happier. The tomboy look is nothing new but it is making a strong comeback recently and we love what we are seeing.

There is something about this style that is so empowering and different, from tuxedos, bow ties, suspenders, boyfriend jeans and jackets to brogues and so on. It is common to see women embracing it and you shouldn’t be left out.

The shapes of these pieces may be quite masculine and strong but the cut, tailoring and fit is totally easy and feminine. The good news here is that this style is so versatile and can be worn almost anywhere including official functions. Please note that this style may not be for everyone as it takes a particular level of confidence and attitude to pull off this look properly. Here are a few things to consider if you are considering this style trend.

Pairing
This is a masculine look so when wearing the outfits, pair them with feminine accessories to tone it down a bit so you don’t look completely like a man.

Shoes
When wearing a bow tie or a tuxedo, make sure you wear heels; it will make you look taller and more feminine.

When Wearing Brogues
Brogues are the go-to shoes to wear when you are going for that boyish but fresh look. They are very comfortable and easy to style. Originally made for men but in the past few years, we’ve seen many female fashion enthusiasts’ rock this pair of comfort. They come in different colours and style. If you are a very girly type, you can stick to the soft colours such as pink, cream or tan. But, if you are bold and want a very versatile pair, black or brown is the way to go. Pair brogues with a feminine dress to balance your look.

Be Different
Avoid the usual black and white masculine look, don’t be afraid to get these outfits in other colours.

Casual
Keep it casual with these outfits, masculine doesn’t necessarily mean formal. Pair these pieces with jeans to create a refreshing casual Friday work look.
