The Catholic Archbishop of Lagos, Most Rev. Alfred Adewale-Martins, has called on women to demonstrate their managerial prowess in different sectors of the society for the advancement of the nation. He also urged them to resist the mindset of gender inferiority and be a solution to the challenge of nation building.

The clergy stated this at a three-day National Conference and fundraising, organised by the Catholic Women Organisations of Nigeria (CWON) themed, Let Us Think and Act the Heart of Mary, in Ikeja, Lagos.

In his sermon, Adewale-Martins, described women as good managers, urging them to maintain good interpersonal relationships with God to gain solutions to the nation’s issues, adding the need to emulate Mary the Mother of Jesus Christ, St. Theresa, Esther and others who salvaged humanity during difficult times.

According to him, with women’s numerical strength and good management they possess, every aspect of the national life could be turned for good unlike the experience in recent times.

National President, CWON, Dame Mary Asibi-Gonsum, noted that society will not advance beyond the intellectual capacity of its citizenry and called for support, especially for boy child education.

On fundraising, she noted that Cot Mariae Boys boarding school project in Gariki, Abuja, is a response to the myriad of societal deformities the Nigerian child faces, especially in access to quality education.

“The boy child of today will become the man, husband and father of tomorrow as head of the home. If given proper upbringing and education, he will in turn impact the family that is under his control. In that regard, peace and good conduct will be fostered in the society,” she said.
