D2D season 2 masterclass presents

In its continuation of inspirational masterclasses by prominent members of the society, Dare2Dream presented four amazing mentors to the participants over the last week.

IK Osakioduwa, a celebrity TV presenter was the sixth mentor to join the FCMB challenge D2D bootcamp. Speaking about his dyslexic condition during childhood, he explained how his parents help him overcome it and how he never gave up on his dreams, despite graduating with a third class. He urged the participants to chase their dreams despite any obstacle that may come their way, He stated, “success is a choice.

In other to have a tomorrow have what others will not have, you have to do today what others will not do” Furthermore, IK told the D2D participants to have confidence in themselves and also reminding them against allowing it to get into their heads, which means their confidence should rest on their preparation, hunger and passion to achieve their dreams.In all, IK urged the D2D participants to make their dreams a reality so that people can pay anything just for it.

Another mentor that joined the D2D Bootcamp was Mo Abudu, Executive Chairman and CEO EbonyLife TV and one of Africa’s top media entrepreneurs. Mrs Mo Abudu began her tutorial by revealing the successive steps she had to take from early stages of her career to build a media empire she controls today. She advised the D2D finalists to start thinking early about their purpose in life, pointing out that, to be achievable, goals must be broken down in smaller pieces. About the importance of self-learning, Mrs. Mo Abudu remembered the start of Moments with Mo and how she taught herself the job of TV-hostess. “At the time, the person who I saw as a reference was Oprah Winfrey. My job for months was to watch all her episodes”. Abudu spoke at length about self-assertion and persistance “If there is one thing in life that can take you from point A to B, it is your ability to be persistent”.

Elohor Aisien C.E.O of Beth models and former miss Nigeria UK was also another mentor at the bootcamp. Telling her story of how she went into modeling at the age of 20, she talked about her trials and difficulties in starting up a modeling agency. Encouraging the finalists, she said, “You’re never too young to chase your dreams as long as you focus on your goals. It won’t be an easy journey and not everybody would make it to the top but never be discouraged, believe in yourself and go for what you love doing.”

Victor Ekpuk, an African visual artist, was the final mentor of this series of masterclass. He began his class saying: “It is one thing to dream and it is another to make your dreams come true, so put yourself in situations that will make your dreams come true”. Mr. Ekpuk further shared his story with the D2D finalists saying as an artist, he had to find a way to be recognized due to the fact that in his time there was nothing like social media advertising so things were very difficult for him. He said he felt discouraged a lot of times but kept pushing on and he urged the finalists saying, “There is always one more step to success, let nothing stop your dreams, never look at your limitations but your possibilities”.
