My friends were left speechless by my sudden announcement. I wanted my ex-fiancé back. Big deal!Trust Onyeka, she was the first to find her tongue.“You understand that he is with someone else now right? So you want to become one of those women we condemn abi”? She asked with a stern look on her face.

My friends were left speechless by my sudden announcement. I wanted my ex-fiancé back. Big deal!Trust Onyeka, she was the first to find her tongue.“You understand that he is with someone else now right? So you want to become one of those women we condemn abi”? She asked with a stern look on her face.

“Hold up!” Tosin exclaimed. She jumped off the bed and almost knocked my bedside lamp over. I reached out and grabbed it just in the nick of time.“Please Tunji was her boyfriend for almost ten years. This chic has been his girlfriend for all of ten days, if anyone is to be condemned here it is the other girl who was obviously lurking around waiting to take over at the slightest opportunity” Tosin explained.

“Can you please stick to a script? You were just preaching about the power of the rebound guy/girl a few minutes ago. So why are you condemning the girl for playing a role you just endorsed”? Onyeka asked.

Onyeka was always too logical…it annoyed me sometimes. Why did she have to make sense every time she opened her mouth? Tosin rolled her eyes at her.I decided it was time for me to step in before the argument turned into a full blown fight…as usual.

“Ladies, Tunji is a grown man with a mind of his own. I am simply going to let him know I am still interested in the possibility of us being together and let him decide what he wants to do with that information”. I said trying to sound as indifferent as possible.

“But you know that you would be hurt if he decides to stay with his current girlfriend. It would be like having your heart broken all over again. Why do you want to put yourself out there”? Onyeka asked with obvious concern in her voice.

“Look to be honest with you guys. Over the last couple of weeks, I have had a lot of time to think about my relationship with Tunji. None of the reasons I had for calling off our wedding had anything to do with him. It was all on me. I lost my identity trying to please my parents and be the type of woman I thought he needed by his side. In retrospect, he never stopped me from pursuing any of my passions. I let Chigozie in because I wanted to validate my theory that Tunji was the reason I felt unfulfilled.

Ironically, nothing changed when I was with Chigozie. I was still afraid to make decisions and take responsibility. I have had time to evaluate my life and I have made some decisions about what I want to do with my life now and it doesn’t end at just being Tunji’s wife and because my entire plan doesn’t revolve around being his wife, I am now convinced that I am ready to become his wife”.

I had just poured my heart out to my friends and instead of the tearful hugs or “awwwws” and “ahhhhhhs” I was expecting, they were staring at me like I was crazy.“What you said makes absolutely no sense to me, but I can see you are sure about what you want so I think you should go for it”. Onyeka announced.I was surprised she didn’t try to talk me out of my crazy idea.

“Are you sure about this? The last thing you want to do is mess up this guy’s life again”! Tosin said.“I am not going to mess his life up. I am sure this time”. I said emphatically.Onyeka got up and did a little victory dance around the room.

“What’s that about”? I asked her in shock.Onyeka stretched out her hand and Tosin fell on the bed and pretended to have passed out.“What’s going on here”? I asked again.
“I won”. Onyeka announced proudly.

“Won what”? I asked “So we made a bet that you would try to win one of the guys back. I being the smart and discerning one, bet on Tunji and this hopeless romantic here bet on Chigozie. So I won”! Onyeka said as she resumed her victory dance.

“So what exactly did you win”? I asked laughing. I couldn’t believe my crazy friends had bet on my love life.“Her Chanel bag”. Onyeka announced proudly.
At that Tosin sat up and gave me an evil glare.“You owe me a Birkin”! She said to me.

I rolled my eyes at her, Onyeka blew her a kiss and then she said “Come on girls we need a plan if we are really going to get our Tunji back”
