A group, the Ashake Foundation, with the support of Leap Africa, Nigeria Youth Future Funds, MacArthur Foundation and Ford Foundation has announced its commitment to encourage women to participate in the 2023 general election.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the foundation, Adegbile Mayowa, said that it was committed to sensitising women and girls of voting age to their right to vote.

“It is fundamental for women to have a voice in the political processes, which will shape the nation’s future.

“Therefore, it is imperative that women have a say in the political process in order to ensure that their needs and concerns are taken into account.

“Women have the power to make a significant impact on the outcome of the 2023 elections. By casting their votes, they can help bring about real change and make their voices heard on issues that matter to them, such as education, health and economic empowerment,” she said.

Mayowa stated that the foundation has been reaching out to women in communities across the country as part of its efforts.

“Our goal is to educate them about the election and assist them in overcoming any barriers that might prevent them from participating in the election. Women will also be assisted in getting to the polls by the organisation by providing transportation and childcare services.

“We believe that every woman deserves the right to have a say in who leads our country and how our communities are run. We encourage all women to exercise their right to vote and be part of shaping Nigeria’s future,” she added.

Ashake Foundation is a leading women’s empowerment organisation dedicated to improving the lives of women and girls in Nigeria. Through education, advocacy and support, the organisation works to empower women to overcome the challenges they face and achieve full potential.
