Seventeen years ago, Jamila Anita embarked on an entrepreneurial journey that would transform her life and the lives of countless others. Little did she know that this leap of faith would lead to the creation of BeautifulBrideOutfitJos, now a leading bridal store in Jos, Nigeria.
Jamila Anita’s venture into the bridal industry was fueled by her willingness to try new things. “I like trying new things,” she said. Over the years, BeautifulBrideOutfitJos has styled numerous brides, including several high-profile individuals, establishing a reputation for excellence and attention to detail. However, Jamila’s passion extends beyond the realm of bridal fashion.
Driven by a deep sense of compassion and a desire to give back to her community, Jamila founded the Soul Uplifting Foundation two years ago. Recognising the challenges faced by children in underprivileged communities, the foundation aims to complement the government’s efforts in improving public education. “My goal was to focus on children living in underprivileged communities going to public schools,” Jamila Anita explains. The foundation employs teachers from private schools to provide additional support in subjects like math, verbal reasoning, and quantitative reasoning. They also provide essential learning materials such as books, test books, and school bags. Furthermore, the Soul Uplifting Foundation has initiated a free water project during Christmas, delivering tankers of water to communities facing water scarcity. Additionally, they support widows through the “WHO YOU HELP” program.
Jamila Anita attributes the success of her philanthropic endeavours to the bridal business. The resources and opportunities generated by BeautifulBrideOutfitJos have enabled her to make a significant impact on the lives of those in need. With plans for expansion on the horizon, Jamila’s vision for BeautifulBrideOutfitJos is one of continued growth and community empowerment.
