Kingsley Ita is passionate about hats and loves making them for ladies who love classy things. The Architect who has a millinery brand known as ITAM By Kings signature, has been making hats for over 10 years now and said that passion made him to become a milliner.

“My love for hats started in my childhood years. My grand mum in those days was selling hats. She passed it on to my mother and my aunt. When I was in secondary school, my interest for hats grew. Anytime my mum wants to discard hats, I would pick them and refurbish them. When my mum sees those hats, she would be amazed. At a point, my aunt who also sells hats started bringing her old hats for me to give it a new look.”

“Upon graduation as an architect, I thought about it and saw it as another line of business. I sketch a lot and anytime my mum travels to London she shows the designers and they are impressed. At that point I knew I could take hat making professionally. I told my mum about it and she supported me. I went for training in London to perfect the art. The rest you see now is history. I enjoy what I do though I still do my architectural work. It has been a wonderful experience for me as a milliner; says Kingsley.

Itam-9“We source a lot of our materials locally and internationally because everything cannot be got here. My inspiration comes from nature and other things. The hats we make are unique in the sense that the one we make for one person is different from the other. We make couture pieces that makes a lady the cynosure of all eyes because making the same thing all the time does not make one vast or stand out. I research a lot, go for trainings, exhibitions, seminars outside Nigeria and go for quality materials.”

Our clients cut across and our pieces are quite affordable. Our prices range from as low as N8000 n to as high as over N100, 000 depending on what the client wants. We make hats for different occasions, whether it is for a fashion show, tea parties, funerals, weddings and so on.

“I’m working on starting a training school soon,” Kingsley informs.
