Poised to transform lives, empower and inspire young girls to reach their full potential, overcome challenges, and develop a positive mindset, the Real Woman Foundation, founded by Pastor Nike Adeyemi, recently held the maiden edition of the ‘Get Up’ girl conference in Lagos.
Speaking to the girls aged 13-19, Pastor Adeyemi emphasised the importance of developing a transformative mindset and urged girls to adopt a mindset of resilience and determination. She urged them to rise above challenges and cultivate gratitude as it empowers them to become influential women and drive positive change in the world.
“It is very important if you will get up and not sit down, if you will get up as a girl, you will get up as a woman, but if you will get up and say, I am going to face life, I am going to impact the world right from where I am, then you must be grateful,” she stated
She encouraged the girls to prioritise self-care, nutrition, and hard work, while thinking in terms of solutions rather than problems. “Know your worth and take care of yourself, know that you are a child of God, know that you are empowered, so take time to eat well, pay attention to your nutrition, not just for now, but for the future,” Pastor Adeyemi advised.
“Work hard, and work smart, think in terms of solutions, not in terms of problems, which means there are all kinds of problems, hence you must find one to solve.” Pastor Adeyemi explained that the ‘Get Up’ conference was a pioneering initiative, specifically designed for teenagers who face numerous challenges. She emphasised the importance of intervening early, saying, “I realised that teenagers deal with a lot, and prevention is better than cure. If we can instill good values and support in them, building on what they have learned at home, I believe it will have a lasting impact and give them a good head start in life.”
She also encouraged parents, particularly mothers and grandmothers, to be more supportive and understanding of their teenage girls, encouraging them to adjust their mindset and get into their world.
During the panel session, Pastor Adeyemi addressed questions from the girls on topics bothering on academic performance, self-esteem, and social pressures. She advised them not to goes against their values.
