Women’s health will take center stage at RenewHER Gala & Awards Night; an exclusive event billed as a turning point in Nigeria’s health and development landscape.
The event, which will hold on September 11, at the Statehouse Banquet Hall, Abuja will spotlight RenewHER, aPresidential Women’s Health Transformation Initiative—led by the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Women’s Health (OSSAP-WH) and championed Medical Doctor, Adanna Steinacker.
RenewHER, short for Health, Equity, and Reform, is a bold, data-driven, and tech-enabled strategy aimed at revolutionising women’s health across the country. Designed as Nigeria’s central coordinating platform for women’s health, the initiative seeks to unite government, private sector, and civil society in co-investing in scalable, community-driven solutions.
One of the highlights of the Gala will be the unveiling of the Women’s Health Nigeria Digital Media & Communications Hub, a first-of-its-kind national platform for advocacy, education, and storytelling. Guests will also witness the launch of the premiere edition of Women’s Health Nigeria Magazine, which will amplify women’s voices, spotlight innovations, and advance discussions around six national priority areas: maternal, newborn and child health; sexual and reproductive health; adolescent health and menstrual equity; nutrition and preventive care; healthcare workforce and access; and community coalition building.
The evening will feature a Presidential Keynote Address, the premiere of the RenewHER Campaign Film, a cultural showcase, the Health Innovator Awards, and a National Pledge Moment to rally long-term support for the initiative.
Speaking ahead of the event, Dr. Steinacker, who is also a Senior Special Assistant to the Nigerian President on Women’s Health, described RenewHER as “more than an initiative, it is a national call to action to redefine the future of women’s health and economic equity in Nigeria. Through the Women’s Health Nigeria Hub and Magazine, we are creating a movement that transforms policy, empowers communities, and inspires a new generation of champions for women’s health.”
RenewHER’s strategic partners include the Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF), Nigerian Governors’ Spouses Forum (NGSF), Maternal and Neonatal Mortality Reduction Innovation Initiative (MAMII), Federal Ministry of Health (FMoH), and Women in Healthcare Network (WIHCN). Together, they are expected to help drive measurable health outcomes while creating new economic opportunities for women through behavior-led financial incentives, digital wallets, microgrants, skills training, and support for women-led health innovations.
