Dignitaries across Africa, including the Chairman/Publisher of The Guardian newspaper, Lady Maiden Alex-Ibru; the first female Chairman of Access Bank, Dr. Mosun Belo-Olusoga; legendary actor, Richard Mofe-Damijo and world-class Performance Strategist, Dr. Abiola Salami, will converge on Lagos for the debut of TTP Woman of the Year 2023.

The event, billed for Friday, June 23 at Muson Centre, Onikan Lagos, comprises a summit, exhibition and awards from dawn to dusk on the theme ‘Embracing Equity for A More Sustainable Future’.

To further help women attain sterling heights in their careers, the Convener, Salami, will unveil his book, ‘The Peak Performing Woman’s Companion’ at the event. The event will also feature fireside chats, mentorship, networking, lots of dance and merriment.

While Salami will deliver the keynote address, other speakers are Alex-Ibru, media personality RMD; Founder/CEO of Emerging Africa Group, Toyin F. Sanni; Country Manager, Nigeria and Ghana Microsoft, Olatomiwa Williams; the first female CEO/MD of ASO Savings, Risikat Ladi Ahmed; Chief Visionary Officer, DigitalEncode, Dr. Obadare Peter Adewale and the CEO of GAIA Africa, Olatowun Candide-Johnson.

Others include Deputy Managing Director of Access Bank, Chizoma Okoli; Executive Head Africa Regions, Standard Bank Group, Nkiru Olumide-Ojo and Communications Coach and Publisher, Today’s Woman, Adesuwa Onyenokwe.

Salami said the initiative became necessary, as the post-pandemic world requires a new level of action.

“The World Economic Forum and the Oliver Wyman Forum report that women have been struck by the harsh conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic, causing them to adapt to new realities.

“These new realities require a new level of commitment to engaging, empowering and recognising women, especially those that are blazing the trail and setting new records,” he explained.

He further described The Peak Performing Women Project as the vehicle for driving a renewed commitment to empowering, engaging and recognising women in their quest for delivering excellence in a post-pandemic world based on Goal 5 of the Sustainable Development Goals.

According to him, this project hopes to equip and encourage women to garner and deliver excellence as career professionals, entrepreneurs, social innovators, political office holders and more, even in their personal lives.

Salami expressed confidence that the programme would enable more women to live beyond misperceptions, stereotypes and misplaced emotions that could limit the God-given exceptional nature within the woman for the development of humanity.

He added: “The Peak Performing Women of The Year is our third level of action in this renewed commitment. We started with The Peak Performing Woman Series and The Peak Performing Woman Interactive Session.”

Salami stated that the TPP Woman of The Year 2023 is attracting women from across Africa for a time of connection, capacity development and celebration, adding: “While a high-level jury will review the nominees, the 100 women, who make the final list, will be recognised at The Peak Performing Woman of The Year 2023 Summit, Exhibition and Awards.”

Salami is also confident that any organisation, industry, community, country or continent that wants to deliver excellence consistently must constantly empower, engage and recognise the sterling contribution of its women.

“That is why I’m inviting you and every woman around you to join us for a time of inspiration, connection and celebration at TPP Woman of The Year 2023,” he enthused.

For its maiden edition, although 2,534 entries were received, the event will recognise only 100 women setting trends and creating new records across multiple African industries and generations.

The entries were from many sectors including Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM); Social Impact and Sustainability; Banking and Finance; Professional Services; Marketing, Media and Entertainment; Human Capital Development; IT and Telecommunications; Real Estate and Construction; Energy, Clean Energy, Oil and Gas, and other Natural Resources.

The event will spotlight how women can embrace equity and proffer thinkable, workable and admirable solutions for the 1000-plus onsite and 5000-plus women in attendance.
