Sophia Momodu, the first baby mama of award-winning superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has publicly waived all outstanding child support payments from the singer and given up any future claims. She also spoke out against social media posts she said were spreading false information about her daughter, Imade Adeleke.

Momodu shared the statement on social media, saying she woke up to “numerous posts intentionally targeted” at her child. According to her, the posts tried to create a false impression about her daughter’s well-being. “My daughter is happy, healthy, and well-rounded. Anyone who has met her can attest to this,” she said.

She said she has been her daughter’s primary caregiver for the past five years. She has handled all expenses, except school fees, which have been covered by the child’s paternal grandparent for the past three years. She also said she has not received any child support from the child’s father. Despite this, she insisted that her daughter “knows no lack” and is growing up in a healthy and supportive environment.

In her statement, Momodu explained that she recently decided to waive all child support claims. She said this decision makes her fully responsible for her child’s financial needs, a development she described as “welcomed by both parties.”

The statement comes amid growing online discussions about the challenges single mothers face, especially those co-parenting with public figures. Social media users often target celebrities’ children with false information or negative comments, raising concerns about online harassment and the safety of young children in public spaces.

Momodu’s statement has drawn reactions from social media users. Some praised her for taking full responsibility for her daughter’s welfare, while others discussed the difficulties of raising a child without consistent support from a co-parent. The post also highlights the increasing visibility of single mothers managing both childcare and finances on their own.

Child support is often a sensitive topic in Nigeria, with many parents facing challenges when one party does not provide regular financial assistance. Momodu’s decision to waive claims highlights how some caregivers prioritise their child’s well-being over legal or financial disputes.

Davido has not publicly responded to Momodu’s statement, and there was no immediate comment from his representatives at the time of filing this report.

Momodu said her focus remains on her daughter’s happiness and wellbeing, ensuring she grows up in a loving environment, protected from public scrutiny and online gossip.
