Free my son, he is not himself, 2Baba’s mother begs Natasha

Nigerian music legend, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has found himself at the centre of fresh controversy as his mother, Rose Idibia, has publicly pleaded with Nigerians to help her beg Edo lawmaker, Natasha Osawuru, to leave her son alone.
A viral video of Mrs. Idibia surfaced online on Thursday evening, where she passionately appealed for intervention, claiming that her son is not in the right state of mind due to his ongoing divorce battle with his estranged wife, Annie Idibia.
In the footage, Rose addressed the public, making a direct appeal to Osawuru, who represents Egor Constituency in the Edo State House of Assembly.
“Good evening, Nigerians. My name is Mrs. Rose Idibia, the mother of 2Face. This message is for Miss Natasha Osawuru of Edo State. I’m calling on all mothers in Nigeria to help me beg her to free my son.
“My son is going through a divorce process, and he is clearly not in his right senses now. I know my son well. That is not him.
“Please, Natasha, the beads you put on his hand and on his neck, remove them and free him,” she pleaded.
Her statement has sparked mixed reactions across social media, with many questioning the nature of 2Baba’s new relationship with the lawmaker.
Just hours before the video emerged, a clip had gone viral, capturing the moment 2Baba went down on one knee and proposed to Osawuru.
In the footage, the singer and the politician were seen dancing closely at a gathering, surrounded by friends who cheered them on.
Shortly after, 2Baba presented a ring to Osawuru, followed by a warm embrace between the two, fueling speculations that the relationship is more serious than many initially thought.
This public display of affection came just a day after the African Queen hitmaker openly declared his love for Osawuru on social media, officially confirming their romantic involvement.
Recall that 2Baba took to Instagram on Tuesday to address the rumours, insisting that Osawuru had nothing to do with the breakdown of his marriage.
He said, “Allegedly, I have seen so many things, so many people coming up with their own false narratives and malicious nonsense after I posted that stuff that I posted. Yes, I posted what I posted.
“Hon. Natasha has been dragged, she has been called all sorts of names, she has been labelled as a home breaker.
“She is a young, brilliant, amazing woman, and she had nothing to do with what is happening between me and Annie in our marriage. Yes, I love her. She is amazing, and she is cool. I want to marry her.”
Before 2Baba’s public declaration, rumours had been making the rounds after he was spotted at the Edo State House of Assembly. A separate video had also surfaced, showing him and Osawuru together at a Lagos nightclub, further intensifying speculations about their relationship.
Osawuru, a rising political figure, was elected into the Edo State House of Assembly in April 2023 under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). She hails from Egor Local Government Area and has since been actively involved in legislative matters in the state.
