Popular comedian and activist, Adebowale Adedayo, aka Mr Macaroni, has condemned National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) officials for allegedly threatening a Lagos-based corps member, Ushie Uguamaye, over her viral video criticising President Bola Tinubu’s government.

Reacting to the reports on his X handle on Sunday, Mr Macaroni said NYSC officials cannot threaten, intimidate, or victimise any corper for expressing their views on the performance of the president.

“To the DG, Coordinators, and every official of the NYSC!!! You cannot threaten, intimidate, or victimise any corper for expressing their views on the performance of the president. They are citizens with rights! The president is in office to serve the people, and every Nigerian, corper or not, has the right to hold their leaders accountable!!!” he wrote.

The comedian, known for his vocal stance on national issues, further lamented that Nigerian youths, especially corps members, are not speaking up enough against the hardship in the country.

“I was expecting videos of youth corpers or non-youth corpers to voice out their anger on this incompetent govt. But let’s continue with the ‘e no concern me’ attitude. When those corpers pass out, they will come and queue up on the unemployment line,” he added.

His reaction comes after Uguamaye, in a TikTok video on Saturday, criticised President Tinubu, describing him as a “terrible leader” while lamenting the country’s worsening economic conditions.

Shortly after her video went viral, she claimed she began receiving threats from NYSC officials, who allegedly pressured her to take down the content.

She also raised concerns over her safety, stating on Instagram that NYSC authorities had her address and could use it against her.
“Dear Nigerians, they have my address. In case you guys don’t see me online, please you know who to hold accountable,” she wrote.
Meanwhile, the NYSC is yet to officially respond to the allegations of threats against Uguamaye.
