ADP urges caution over creation of state police
The National Chairman of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), Yabaji Sani, has cautioned against ongoing moves to empower the 36 states of the federation to create state police.
Sani, who spoke with journalists during activities to mark the 2nd anniversary of the registration of the party, said the creation of state police could become a useful tool in the hands of divisive elements to break up the country.
The ADP chief maintained that a centralised police system that is disciplined, inclusive and cohesive would entrench the pillars of democracy by complying with the rule of law.
