
The alumni of Federal Polytechnic, Bida, Niger State (Class 1995 to 2001), took time to recount with nostalgia, time spent in the school, and the blessings of God in the life of their friend, Ahmed Usman Ododo, the new Kogi State governor.
The alumni unanimously described Ododo, as a compassionate and patriotic person, who actively committed to giving voice to the voiceless in the society, a person of integrity, visionary, compassionate with expression of strong confidence.
They assured that he would bring positive change and progress to Kogi State, saying “we witnessed development throughout our academic journey together and this is truly remarkable to see you reach such a significant milestone.”Former Member of the Senate, Alhaji Ali Ibrahim, described Ododo as an honest, dedicated and humble person.“With his wealth of experience as a chartered accountant with government establishment and as the Auditor General Local Government, will take kogi to highest height and renew the hope of Kogi state,” he said
Speaking during the get-together organised to celebrate his inauguration ceremony, his classmates narrated the sterling qualities that stood him out during their school days, urging him to continue victoriously in line with the school principles.
The immediate past Deputy Governor of Niger State, Alhaji Ahmed Mohammed Ketso, who was their class captain, described Ododo as humble, hardworking and was never found wanting in any endeavour.
Also, the Director of Rectory Unit of the Federal Polytechnic Bida, Mallam Kawu Abubakar Alhassan, said “Ododo is, emotionally stable, straightforward and simple. He stood out as a contemporary servant leader who is amiable, unassuming and an embodiment of humility.”
“With his wealth of experience in governance and resilience, Ahmed Usman Ododo is ready to run an all-inclusive government as enumerated in his victory speech shortly after he was declared winner of the governorship election in the state. Ahmed Ododo believes his victory is a call for service in accountability, fairness and equity thereby urging his co-contestants to join hands in the smooth running of the affairs of the state. He assures the people of Kogi state of his government’s willingness to build on the achievements of the past administration with an emphasis on the provision of adequate security for the citizenry.”
The Head of Finance, NTA News-24, Mrs Temitope Alo Aregbesola described him as a perfect description of what “brotherhood is all about. “
Former Vice President, Students Union Government (SUG), Bida Poly, Princess Molly E. Ikpa said; “I believe so strongly in your ability to fulfil the responsibilities of this office with integrity, diligence and accountability and I know you will exceed the people’s expectations”.
Lending her voice, Princess Ifeoma Agatha Ojeifoh, Agbor in Delta State said “The man of the moment is very humble, intelligent and accommodating”.
A chartered Accountants and Tax practitioner, Dr. Nwabuzor Monday Emeka said “It is inspiring to see one of our take on such a significant pivotal role in shaping the future of the state. Pastor Dr. Kayode Olaniran described Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo as, “a cool, calm and easy-going gentleman who is always clean and neat”. Olusegun Sunday Olawuyi, his Class Rep. during their HND days said, “He graduated from a set of talented, erudite and pace setting professionals that has long time prepared themselves to positively change the economic, social and political landscape of this great country in other to bring succour and prosperity of our citizens”.
He noted that this was not his first appearance in the corridor of power. “Usman Ododo has tenaciously served as former Auditor General of Kogi state where he maintained a spotless record. He worked with the Internal Revenue Service where he contributed his quota to the growth of the internally generated revenue of the state during the immediately past administration of Governor Yahaya Bello. Not only that, he was a one-time member of the Nigerian Youth Parliament, he was a former assistant to the governor and a former chairman OF Kogi state Youth Council.”
