Managing Director of Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO), Dr. Jamil Gwamna, has itemised the challenges facing power distribution in the country, highlighting his plan to set KEDCO on the path of sustainable progress.

At an evening with select journalists in Abuja, the KEDCO boss declared that the company, under him, recorded monumental progress since its privatisation in 2013.

According to him, the strategy is the best way to ensure that the company survives future storms and satisfies customers with quality service.

Describing Kano DisCo as an organisation that had been through uncommon transformation to outstanding achievements, Gwamna said the company is now known for excellence.

He stated: “We met KEDCO in a raw state, processed it and harnessed its huge potential by stretching the boundaries to ensure that we have a model company.

“Massive investments in network expansion and maintenance, human resource appreciation as well as training and retraining of staff are among strategies we leveraged to build a giant in power distribution in Nigeria.”

Expressing confidence that KEDCO has been set on an irreversible success trajectory, Gwamna assured that nothing will derail its successful run, particularly given its focus on international best practices and customer satisfaction.

On his plan for the company, he said: “We are proud of where we are, but for those who want to remain relevant, progress is always a continuous thing. So, we are still on course to making the company greater and stronger.”
