COWLSO to host conference on importance of family to nation- building

The Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO) has concluded plans to host its 16th National women’s conference, which will run from October 24 to October 26, 2016 at the Convention Centre, Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.The theme is “Strong family, strong nation”.

The wife of Lagos State governor, Mrs. Bolanle Ambode said the theme of the convention was specifically picked because the path to a strong and functional nation depends on a strong family unit of such nation, which is why government at all level, must provide strong family units.

She also noted that the conference was designed to enrich the knowledge of women on good family values, good upbringing of the children among others.

Ambode said the conferenc would have in attendance, the wife of the president, Haijya Aisha Buhari , as the Mother of the Day as well as the Governor of Edo State, Adams Oshimole, as the Special Guest of Honour at the closing ceremony.

Facilitators at the convention are seasoned academics drawn from within and outside Nigeria. They will discuss various issues bothering on causes and consequences of domestic violence, building blocks of the family unit, child abuse, family finance, caring for family members with disabilities and health challenges among others.

Besides, the wife of the Governor added that there would be presentation of certificates of appreciation to notable individuals and organisations for their long-standing partnership and support for COWLSO, while an award of Inspirational Women of the Year would also be presented to a distinguished Nigerian woman achiever, who has excelled in her chosen career, mentored other women and has supported the vision of the group.
