Delta PDP declares Onyeme dep guber candidate

Delta State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has named Mr. Monday John Onyeme as its deputy governorship candidate of the party.

A statement by the state Publicity Secretary of the party, Dr. Ifeanyi Osuoza, said the party announced that Onyeme would be running mate to the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Chief Sheriff Oborevwori, who emerged as its governorship candidate for next year’s election.

While congratulating Onyeme on his emergence, the party stated: “We have no doubts that this is already a confirmed winning combination for the 2023 governorship election.

“We are now fully ready for electoral battle in 2023 and by the grace of God, it will end in praise, as always. Delta is PDP and PDP is Delta.”

Born on March 30, 1965 at Ibabu community of Onicha-Ukwuani in Ndokwa-West Council of the state, Onyeme is a chartered accountant, fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN), Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM), Institute of Certified Forensic Investigation Professional Faculty (FCFIP) and Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), among others.

Before his present appointment as executive chairman of the Delta State Board of Internal Revenue (DBIR), he was the bursar of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) for over nine years.

Onyeme had his early education at Army Children’s School in Sokoto State; Government Secondary School, Gummi in Kebbi State; Federal Polytechnic, Kaura Namoda in Zamfara State and the University of Calabar, Cross River State, where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree (Second Class Upper) in accountancy.

He also holds a certificate in Information and Communication Technology, a Master’s degree (M.A.) in Business Management from the Northumbria University in Newcastle, United Kingdom and is currently a Ph.D. candidate in accountancy.
