The Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria has urged Nigerians not to lose hope despite the worsening economic hardship, hunger and rising poverty confronting citizens, assuring that the country still has a better future.

The District Overseer, Foursquare Gospel Church, Ibadan District, Rev. Solomon Wada, gave the assurance on Sunday at the 2026 Ibadan District Convocation of the church, held under the theme, “Ultimate Satisfaction,” drawn from Psalm 107:9.

Wada said the theme was particularly relevant at a time when many Nigerians were struggling to meet their basic needs, stressing that lasting satisfaction could not be found in material possessions or worldly achievements.

He said, “Things are so hard in this nation. People are hungry. There is hunger and poverty all around us. Hardly can some people eat two or three times in a day.

“But in the midst of all this, our goal is the Ultimate Provider. Our goal is our Ultimate Satisfaction. He can provide all things for us. He can make all things easy for us.”

The cleric urged Nigerians to remain hopeful, saying difficult economic conditions would not last forever.

According to him, the biblical account of the Israelites who experienced severe hardship before witnessing divine intervention offered lessons for Nigerians facing current challenges.

Wada said, “That is my message for Nigeria. No matter how difficult things are, the God that changed the situation in Samaria in 24 hours, that same God is on the throne. He is the same yesterday, today and forever.

“I want to say that people should not lose hope. We should not lose hope. There is hope even in what we are going through now. There is hope in our hardship. I believe that God Almighty will intervene and everything shall turn to our good.”

He said material wealth, political positions and social status could not guarantee lasting fulfilment, noting that people often developed new desires even after achieving their aspirations.

Wada maintained that genuine satisfaction could only be found through a relationship with Jesus Christ, whom he described as the “ultimate satisfier.”

“The only one that can satisfy is Jesus. Jesus is our ultimate satisfier. If you are sick, He attends to you. If you are looking for miracles, He is the one that can give them to us,” he said.

Earlier, the General Overseer of the Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria, Rev. (Dr.) Sam Aboyeji, lauded the leadership and members of the Ibadan District for their commitment to advancing the church’s work.

Aboyeji, whose goodwill message was delivered by the Southwest Regional Coordinator, Rev. Rasaq Akinwale, said the church had reasons to celebrate God’s faithfulness in preserving and strengthening its members and ministries.

He congratulated ministers, leaders, workers and members of the district, describing the convocation as an opportunity for spiritual renewal, deeper consecration and fresh empowerment.

The General Overseer urged members to remain committed to the church’s divine mandate through the Inreach, Outreach and NextGen segments of its Decade of SOARING vision.

He described the theme, “Ultimate Satisfaction,” as timely and divinely inspired, expressing confidence that the gathering would strengthen participants’ faith and bring about spiritual transformation.

Aboyeji also urged worshippers to approach the convocation with faith and great expectations, citing biblical assurances of God’s ability to create new opportunities and exceed human expectations.

The three-day Ibadan District Convocation commenced on Friday, August 21, at 9 p.m. and ended in the early hours of Sunday, August 23, with the main celebration held on Sunday.
