Gov Namadi signs ₦901.84 2026 appropriation bill into law

Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State has assented to the ₦901.84 billion 2026 Appropriation Bill as well as the ₦288.85 billion consolidated budget of the state’s 27 Local Government Councils, pledging to ensure the accelerated implementation of the budget to drive development across the state.

The signing ceremony, held at the Government House in Dutse, attracted top government officials and political leaders, including the Deputy Governor, Engineer Aminu Usman Gumel; the Speaker of the Jigawa State House of Assembly; the Deputy Speaker; the Secretary to the State Government; the APC State Chairman; the Head of the Civil Service; the Chief of Staff; principal officers and members of the State House of Assembly, among others.
Speaking at the event, Governor Namadi said:

“Today, by the grace of Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta’ala), we have signed into law the Jigawa State Appropriation Law 2026, covering both the State Government and the 27 Local Government Councils. The Jigawa State Government budget stands at ₦901.84 billion, while the consolidated budget of the 27 Local Government Councils is ₦288.85 billion.”

He described the budget as a citizens’ budget, noting that it was the product of extensive public engagement and reflected the aspirations of the people of Jigawa State.

“This budget is the outcome of our extensive citizen engagement programme, and it truly reflects the yearnings and aspirations of our people. It is exactly what the people asked for,” he said.

Governor Namadi commended members of the Jigawa State House of Assembly for their dedication and cooperation throughout the budget process, highlighting their participation during citizen engagement sessions, bilateral meetings, high-level consultations, and committee deliberations.

He also praised members of the State Executive Council for their active involvement in the citizen engagement programme, noting that many worked tirelessly, often late into the night, to collate inputs from residents across the state.

The governor further appreciated the support and resilience of the people of Jigawa State, assuring them of his administration’s commitment to accountability, good governance, and respect for human dignity.

“With your continued support, we will continue to do our best to ensure accountability, uphold the dignity of humanity, and pursue our noble development objectives,” he assured.
