Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has pledged to renovate facilities at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp in Damare, Girei Local Government Area, to enhance its suitability for activities.
The Governor made this commitment during the 2025 orientation course for 1,700 Batch C Stream II corps members deployed to the state.
Represented by Dr. Edgar Amos, Chief of Staff, Government House, Yola, Fintiri emphasized the significance of the orientation course in equipping corps members for national development.
He urged them to maximize opportunities presented by Adamawa’s favourable climate and the establishment of the Adamawa Investment Promotion Agency to thrive during their service year.
“Consider yourselves as bona fide members of the community, immerse yourselves in the culture, and maintain healthy relationships. Adamawa is one of the most peaceful states in the country, but I urge you to remain security conscious and apply the tips you’ll receive during this period,” he said.
The Chairman of the NYSC State Governing Board and Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Barrister Wali Yakubu, encouraged corps members to embrace the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) program, positioning themselves as job creators rather than job seekers.
Earlier, NYSC State Coordinator, Mr Ateli Samson, praised Governor Fintiri for his generosity, including the donation of 50 bags of rice, 10 cows, and 10 jerricans of oil for corps members.
He also lauded the recent increment of corps members’ allowances to N20,000 and the improved feeding arrangements at the camp.
The oath of allegiance was administered by the State Chief Judge, Justice Hapsat Abdurrahman, represented by Justice Helen Hammanjoda.
