The Ikosi-Ejirin Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has commissioned and handed over a newly constructed divisional office, an operational bus and a motorcycle to the Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to strengthen security operations in the area.

The handover ceremony, held on Wednesday in Agbowa, was performed by the Executive Chairman of Ikosi-Ejirin LCDA, Dr Akogun Wale Anomo, alongside the Ayandelu of Odo-Ayandelu Kingdom, Oba Ganiu Aderibigbe Asunmo (Jamade I).

Speaking at the event, Lagos State NSCDC Commandant, Adedotun Keshinro, conveyed the appreciation of the Commandant General of the Corps, Prof Ahmed Abubakar Audi, to the council chairman, the traditional ruler and the people of Ikosi-Ejirin for the project.

Keshinro described the completion and donation of the divisional office as a demonstration of the confidence reposed in the NSCDC by both the government and traditional institutions, noting that it would enhance the Corps’ capacity to protect lives and property.

He urged residents to regard the facility as a symbol of collaboration between the government, the community and security agencies, saying it would serve as a rapid response base, an intelligence-gathering centre and a place where members of the public could report security concerns and seek assistance.

In his remarks, Anomo commended the strong partnership between the local government, traditional institutions and security agencies, saying the collaboration had significantly improved the area’s security architecture and contributed to the progress recorded by his administration.

He pledged continued support for security agencies and promised to work closely with community leaders to ensure the safety of lives and property while delivering the dividends of democracy to residents.

Also speaking, the Ayandelu of Odo-Ayandelu Kingdom, Oba Asunmo, praised the council administration and its cabinet for ensuring the successful completion of the project and providing the logistics needed to make the divisional office fully operational.

The monarch urged officers of the NSCDC posted to the division to justify the investment by intensifying efforts to rid Ikosi-Ejirin and neighbouring communities of crime and other criminal activities.

The ceremony was attended by the Executive Vice Chairman of Ikosi-Ejirin LCDA, Wasiu Dehinsilu, the council manager, the leader of the legislative house, traditional rulers from Ejirin Kingdom, Agbowa, Orugbo-Iddo, Owu-Ikosi and Otta-Ikosi, representatives of other security agencies, and other dignitaries.
