The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship hopeful in Imo State, Success Akagburuonye, has donated medical equipment valued at $7.8 million to the Imo State Government, with a condition that the items be distributed to health facilities across the state’s 27 local government areas.

Akagburuonye announced the donation in Lagos while addressing members of the Imo State Towns Development Association, Lagos (ISTDAL), where he was honoured with the Grand Patron Award.

He said the equipment was donated to him by the Canadian government as part of its humanitarian assistance to improve healthcare delivery in Imo State.

According to him, after receiving approval for the donation, he met with the Imo State Government and other partners to work out arrangements for distributing the equipment to health facilities across the 27 LGAs.

Akagburuonye also announced N5 million as a personal appreciation for the award.

He urged members of the association to participate in the activities of his Hope Rising for Imolites Foundation, through which he said he had been providing medical assistance to residents.

“I have been doing medical palliatives and I have been able to make some impact,” he said.

He also asked the association to nominate a representative to work with the foundation on its programmes.
