Insecurity, hardship: Church, PFN, CAN offer hope through Lagos mega crusade

Bishop Francis Wale Oke

Worried about increasing insecurity, ritual killings and hardship in the country, Peace of God Apostolic and Prophetic Ministries Global, in conjunction with the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) and the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Surulere Zone, Lagos State, is offering hope for Nigeria through a mega crusade in Lagos.

The three-day mega crusade, themed “Help from Above”, will start from Saturday, May 30 to Monday, June 1, at the National Stadium, Surulere, from 4:30 p.m. daily.

Addressing the media on the programme, the convener, Archbishop Mary Oluwaseun Ajisafe, said the programme offers hope to dispirited Nigerians and seeks to bring them back to God, who can do all things.

She lamented the economic hardship, kidnapping, and resort to occultic powers in Nigeria, warning of impending doom unless people return to God for help.

According to her, the mega crusade was directed by God and is all-encompassing because everyone is affected by the challenges in the country.

Ajisafe emphasised that the crusade was conceived out of the burden God laid on her heart to deliver Nigerians from the burden of occultism, poverty and hopelessness.

She philosophised that when there is a problem, there is a solution and, when it comes to spiritual things, God is a solution provider.

The prelate noted that people are looking for help everywhere without resorting to God, who owns all breakthroughs, healing, deliverance and elevation, without being diabolical.

She said: “God spoke to me before we entered 2026. He said to me, ‘My daughter, I want a mega crusade. Go and deliver my people from the arms of ritualists. Bring them back to me. Speak to them about me again. Let them know I am capable of doing everything for them.

“So that they will seek God rather than involve themselves in money rituals, especially the younger ones. God wants to change their mentality. The third one is salvation for all. God said, ‘I want to come back as a king to the land and to their lives, so that they will know me more.’

“And He continued talking to me at midnight, in the morning, every time. ‘Go to the National Stadium. Go and tell my people that I can do everything for them and that they need me in all ramifications.’”

Also speaking, the PFN Chairman, Surulere Province, Rev. John Bello, said the crusade was in line with the vision of Pastor Yemi Davis, the new chairman of the Lagos State chapter of PFN, to rescue the land since he assumed office two years ago.

According to him, the yearly event started last year, with the last Saturday of May marked out as a day for soul winning.

He noted that PFN is always in a better state when there is unity, hence the collaboration with Peace of God Apostolic and Prophetic Ministries Global.

He called on every other body, camp and association that loves soul winning to come on board to move the vision forward.

He stressed that the PFN chairman for Lagos State, Pastor Yemi Davis, will lead other notable men of God at the event at the National Stadium, Surulere, where divine help is expected to impact the lives of Lagos residents.

On the issue of insecurity, he advised the government to do more, saying the country is bleeding.

Bello noted that the church, through PFN, has been supporting victims of insecurity, especially in Benue State, through donations of food and other relief items.

Beyond prayers, he also called for unity in the church and active Christian involvement in politics to rescue the country.

He said: “Our leader must have prayed and must have sought direction from God, and we have been led into this year’s theme, which is ‘Help from Above’. I am sure it is very relevant to individuals, families, the church, nations and the children as a whole.

“So, we are looking up to God because sometimes, as an individual, family, group or nation, there may be situations that may be difficult to handle.

“So you do all you can and, at the same time, you pray because, in Nigeria, we believe in prayer and we believe in God.

“We have also realised that the Bible says the government shall be upon His shoulders. I want to believe that the church is the shoulder of Christ upon which governmental power shall rest. So, the era of negligence is over.

“We are encouraging our people to take part in governance at the local, state and federal levels. I believe that, in a very short while, we are going to witness transformation because more people will become involved in the governance of the country.

“I want everybody to go and get their voter’s card because you cannot say you want something good and not participate.

“So, I encourage every Christian to get their voter’s card so that they will be able to vote for who they want.”

On his part, the Chairman of CAN Surulere Chapter, Snr. Apostle James Akingboye, expressed confidence that the crusade would restore hope to Nigerians at this critical moment.

He added that the crusade would attract participants from outside Lagos State and Nigeria.
