The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a man, Gafaru Rasaki, for allegedly being in possession of four human heads.
In a statement issued in Abeokuta, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed that operatives of the Shakura Division arrested the suspect on January 21.
According to the police spokesperson, preliminary investigation revealed that Rasaki unlawfully exhumed the human remains from a cemetery, an act described as a gross disrespect for the dead and a serious violation of the law.
Babaseyi stated that the recovered exhibits were secured, while the suspect was charged to court following the conclusion of investigations.
He also expressed concern over the rising cases of corpse exhumation and other ritual-related offences across the country, stressing that the police would continue to intensify efforts to curb such crimes.
