One dies, three injured as truck suffers brake failure in Ogun

Incident scene

One person has died while three others sustained varying degrees of injuries after a cement-laden truck suffered brake failure and crashed into a ditch along Ajebo Road in Ogun State.

The accident occurred yesterday, at Agbedejobi Village, around Mile 6, Ajebo Road, in Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of the state.

The spokesperson for the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the incident in a statement issued in Abeokuta yesterday.

According to Akinbiyi, the unregistered truck veered off the road while the driver attempted to avoid a vehicle ahead, eventually landing in a ditch and ending up on a railway track.

The impact caused the truck to spill its entire load of cement into a nearby bush.

Akinbiyi said the deceased’s remains had been deposited at the morgue of the General Hospital, Ijaye, Abeokuta, while the three injured victims were receiving treatment at the same facility.
