The Delta State Police Command has arrested several suspects, including one Oke Jerry Ekokodjie and Ibori (surname unknown), in connection with kidnapping and robbery across parts of the state.
The Command said that on January 20, 2026, at about 4:30 p.m., operatives of the Special Anti-Kidnapping and Cybercrime Squad carried out a coordinated follow-up operation linked to reported cases of kidnapping and armed robbery in Obinoba, Obiaruku, Abraka, Ororokpe and surrounding communities.
According to the police, operatives trailed a suspect to a notorious criminal hideout allegedly operated by Ekokodjie and Ibori. On storming the location, the two principal suspects, alongside three others, were arrested, while some members of the gang reportedly fled through adjoining creeks and waterways.
The Command’s spokesperson, Bright Edafe, said a search of the premises led to the recovery of incriminating items, including a locally fabricated Beretta-style pistol with three rounds of 9mm live ammunition, a black Mercedes-Benz GLK, a battle axe, illicit substances in commercial quantities and a Point-of-Sale machine.
In a related operation, the Command said that on January 22, 2026, at about 2:56 p.m., operatives from Obiaruku Division carried out a targeted raid on a suspected cultists’ hideout in Amai community, Ndokwa East Local Council Area.
During the raid, five suspects were arrested. They were identified as Frank Etiyemonu, 36; Chinedu Emeka, 25; Festus Nwadiche, 26; Azuju Onowu, 29; and Ozor Blessing, 29.
A search of the hideout led to the recovery of a locally made pistol, two battle axes, Indian hemp, other suspected hard drugs and other dangerous weapons.
