The Rivers State Police Command has dismissed reports of a gun duel between rival political groups at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secretariat on Aba Road, Port Harcourt.

In a statement yesterday, the command described the report as false and misleading, attributing it to mischief makers intent on creating panic. The command’s spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, stated that officers were strategically deployed across key locations in the state and were promptly sent to the PDP secretariat to investigate the claims. However, investigations confirmed that no such incident took place.

Iringe-Koko cautioned individuals or groups spreading false information to desist from actions capable of heating the polity and creating unnecessary tension. She reiterated the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property while ensuring peace and security in the state.

The police urged the public to disregard unfounded rumours and assured residents of their professionalism and dedication to maintaining law and order in Rivers State.
