The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Anambra State has sworn in about 1,640 corps members for the 2022 Batch C Stream 2 orientation course in the state.

Speaking during the swearing in ceremony at the Permanent Orientation Camp at Mbaukwu/Umuawulu Community of the state, the NYSC state Coordinator, Mrs. Blessing Iruma, disclosed that 1,123 were deployed to the state, while 517 came in from Delta State.

Iruma noted that the ongoing National Sports Festival in the state informed the deployment of corps members from Delta State.

According to her, as at close of registration, Anambra NYSC has registered 1,123 corps members, comprising 471 men and 652 women for the swearing ceremony.

She said: “Delta camp isn’t readily available because of the ongoing National Sports Festival in the state. Others are deployed to Rivers and Edo; but they will return to their states of deployment after the camp.

“NYSC will continue to support government in ensuring manpower deployment for health care delivery to rural areas, where they are needed, as well as agricultural extension work to boost food production.”

Iruma urged the corps members to quickly adapt to the regimented programme, and utilise their time to contribute to development of the state, especially the education sector.

She congratulated the corps members on successful completion of their studies, which qualified them for the national service.
