Oyo, Osun move to end dispute in border communities

To end the clashes between Lagelu and Iwo, two local government areas in Oyo and Osun, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and his Oyo State counterpart have launched peace moves.

Adeleke and Makinde have, however, assured the residents of these border communities that the days of border disputes will soon be far behind them.

While discussing at Makinde’s residence during the week, both governors resolved to take immediate action.

The governors charged their deputies to meet the leaders of Lagelu and Iwo communities involved in the confrontation.

According to Adeleke’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the National Boundary Commission had conducted a mediation visitation to the disputed areas to collate data from documentary and oral evidence to determine the exact boundary of the two states, but has yet to release its report on the issue.

“The federal agency has, however not released its report despite several follow-ups by the stakeholders, creating a vacuum being exploited by violated groups,” Rasheed said in a statement.
