President Bola Tinubu has condoled former minister Uche Nnaji over the death of his mother.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended his condolences to former Minister of Science and Technology, Uche Geoffrey Nnaji, following the death of his mother, Mrs Monica Nnenna Nnaji.

In a condolence message issued on March 16, 2026, the President expressed sympathy with Nnaji, his siblings and the wider family, describing the late matriarch as a woman whose life was defined by discipline, strength and sacrifice.

The message, according to a statement by Nnaji’s Special Adviser on Administration, Dr Robert Ngwu, was signed by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

Tinubu said Mrs Nnaji devoted her life to raising her children with strong moral values, noting that her influence is reflected in their contributions to society.

He described her as having lived a fulfilled and exemplary life marked by hard work and unwavering commitment to family.

According to the President, her legacy remains evident in the character and achievements of her children.

The President urged the family to take solace in the positive impact of her life and the many people she influenced.

He also prayed for the peaceful repose of her soul and for divine comfort for the family during the period of mourning.

The condolence message has drawn attention in Enugu State and beyond, with observers pointing to the longstanding working relationship between Tinubu and Nnaji, who served in his cabinet.

Political stakeholders say the gesture reflects Nnaji’s role within the administration, particularly in advancing science, technology and innovation.

Tributes have continued to come from across Nigeria, with many describing the late Mrs Nnaji as a pillar of strength whose values of humility, discipline and hard work shaped those around her.
