Troops of Sector 2, Operation Fansan Yamma OPFY, in collaboration with the National Drug Law enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have recovered 126 rustled cattle and arrested suspects during separate intelligence-led operations in Bakori and Batsari Local Government Areas of Katsina State.

The operations, conducted as part of ongoing counter-terrorism and anti-banditry efforts, were carried out in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and National Drug enforcement Agency.

Reliable military sources said that the troops acting on credible intelligence about the movement of suspected bandits with rustled cattle laid an ambush at a crossing point in Yankwani village, Bakori Local Government Area of the State.

The sources said that on sighting the troops, the suspected bandits ran away, into the forest, abandoning the rustled livestock. .

The sources noted that ransaking the area led to the recovery of 126 livestock, comprising 83 cows and 43 sheep.

The recovered livestock were handed over to the chairman of the Peace Keeping Committee in Bakori, Alhaji Tijjani Mohammed, for identification and return to their rightful owners.

The OPFY troops and personnel of the NDLEA, Katsina State Command, also conducted raids in Wagin, Tundu Mobi and Chadawaki communities in Batsari Local Government Area.

The joint operation resulted in the arrest of several suspects and the seizure of exhibits including locally fabricated firearm loaded with five cartridges from one of the suspects.

All arrested suspects and recovered exhibits have been handed over to the NDLEA for further investigation and necessary legal action.
