The management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, Anambra State, is to partner with the Centre for Regional and International Development (CRID) to set up business schools in major cities across the South East.

According to the two organisations, the first of the business schools will formally take off this month in Onitsha main market, a major commercial nerve centre of South East, in conjunction with the Onitsha Chamber of Commerce.

Vice-Chancellor of UNIZIK, Prof. Charles Esimone, said it has become necessary that millions of businessmen, women and industrialists in the area embraced modern ways of doing business in line with global best practices to achieve optimal success.

Esimone said: “We at the UNIZIK Business School have designed a programme to partner the business community in the five states of the South East and get them to interface with the international business community. This would go a long way to expose them to their colleagues outside Nigeria and, also, help to sell their products, ideas and concepts to other parts of the world.”

The VC further stated: “We have opened discussions with the Onitsha Chamber of Commerce and Industry and we would link up with Nnewi, Aba, Enugu, Nsukka, Abakaliki, Enugu, Owerri, Orlu and others. We are doing this in conjunction with CRID based in Kent, United Kingdom.”
