Vanguard Publisher, Amuka lauds Police over security
Publisher of the Vanguard Newspapers, Sam Amuka has commended the Lagos State Police Command on its fight against crime.
Amuka who led the Vanguard management to the State Command Headquarters,Ikeja Yesterday said the Command was doing well in the area of crime fighting.
Amuka was attacked about two months ago by suspected armed robbers who are Chadians.
The hoodlums were rounded up by the Police. According to Amuka, “I personally want thank the Commissioner of Police, Mr.Fatai Owoseni and his subordinates for the beautiful job they did over the armed robbery attack on me.
After the attack, Just as we have given up hope, we were told that they have nabbed every one involved in the attack. “Not only that the Police arrested the hoodlums,they have been arresting other criminals. The Police are getting every other criminal In Lagos”.
Vanguard Editor-In-Chief , Gbenga Adefaye urged the police boss to keep up the good works of policing the command: “On behalf of uncle Sam, we have come to say a big thank you to the CP. We also seize the opportunity to urged Lagosians to encourage the Police. I will first give glory to God Almighty for uncle Sam’s life, for what he has been doing in the country”
In response, Commissioner Of Police said he was humbled by the visit but said he would like to thank God for Uncle Sam’s life and for saving him from the hands of his attackers.
“ Within a period of an interval of two years, he has suffered two armed robbery attacks. Uncle Sam has contributed in no mean ways in the development of journalism. He is a gift to humanity . “For the criminal elements who carried out the attacks, the God Almighty has shown that he is greater than them. They were not able to get away with the evil they committed.
“I also want to appreciate you sir, for the kind of society we operate. we are your children,for you to have come here, it would serve as a moral booster to officers and men of the Command. Your coming will also be a narrative, under the present leadership of the Inspector General Of Police (IGP), that Nigerians would live safely and carry out their business activities.
We would keep on fighting crime with everything available to our disposal”
