Vehicle rams into shop, kills three, injures others in Imo

Tragedy occurred Thursday night, when a Lexus Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV), on top speed veered off the road and rammed into a shop located in Egbu, on Owerri – Umuahia Road, Owerri North Local Council, Imo State. Three persons, who were buying some items, were killed in the accident.

Also, both the shop owner and some persons within the vicinity were injured. They were rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

According to witness, the driver escaped immediately after the accident, but the passenger could not run away, prompting the mob to arrest and hand him over to the police.

The witness said: “We were out there, about 7.00p.m., in Egbu, when a Lexus Jeep on a top speed suddenly skidded off the road and rammed into that shop. It killed three persons, who had come to buy some items. Many persons were injured and were taken to a nearby hospital.

The owner of the shop was also, injured, and her shop destroyed. The driver escaped, but his passenger was caught and handed over to the police.”
