Succour came to victims of New Haven fire outbreak by way of financial assistance, relief materials and automatic employment, when the state governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, visited the scene of the conflagration that took place last Sunday.

The governor, who explained that the gesture was in keeping with his administration’s commitment and swift response to issues concerning the wellbeing of residents, offered automatic employment to one of the victims, whose degree and NYSC discharge certificates were consumed in the inferno.

While assessing the level of damage, which affected two apartments, the governor also provided financial assistance and relief materials to the families and the landlady, even as he directed the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to follow up on the process of rehabilitating the victims of the unfortunate development.

Responding to the governor’s gestures on behalf of the victims after receiving the cash donation from the Executive Secretary of Enugu State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Mrs. Nkechi Eneh, the elated landlady, Mrs. Victoria Igwume, commended Ugwuanyi for his prompt visit and intervention.

Igwume said the humility and humaneness displayed by the governor surpassed the financial and other assistance he provided, adding that the physical visit by the governor in person mitigated the psychological trauma caused by the mid day inferno.

“His Excellency has shown that truly his administration has a human face. This empathy has also gone a long way to distinguish his administration as a responsive government that is sensitive to the plight of the people. Enugu State is really in the hands of God and we are happy that our investment in electing the governor is not in vain,” the landlady added.
