Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has said the high youth unemployment in the country was a time bomb that could explode if nothing was done urgently to arrest it.

He stated this in Ado-Ekiti yesterday while interacting with beneficiaries of the N-Power Programme.

His words: “The people here today are a fraction of unemployed youths. The unemployment situation in the country is a time bomb that could explode anytime soon if not properly managed.

“We have to intervene and assist these people. Before leaving office, we would make some employment and these people would form the bulk of those to be engaged.

“We will give out 300 laptops to them and I have directed that their curriculum vitae be collected and kept where we can make quick reference to them when there are vacancies to fill.”

Fayose also announced a scholarship for the best graduating student in 2009 at Christ’s Girls School, Ado-Ekiti and a bachelor’s degree in English Language from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Moyinoluwa Fajana to study for her Masters degree.
