The governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) in Oyo State, Kunle Olatunji, has declared that the party is determined to end the dominance of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in the state’s political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Olatunji accused successive administrations of the two major political parties of failing to deliver people-centred governance, insisting that Oyo State deserves new leadership focused on accountability, economic development and improved welfare for residents.

In a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan, the ADP standard-bearer said the growing support for his party across the state reflects widespread dissatisfaction with the performance of the APC and PDP since the return to democratic rule in 1999.

According to him, the two parties have had ample opportunity to transform the state but failed to implement policies and projects capable of significantly improving the living standards of the people.

“The growing acceptance of ADP across the state reflects the yearning of the people for a credible alternative after years of disappointment under successive administrations of the two dominant political parties,” he said.

Olatunji maintained that the state requires visionary, purposeful and people-oriented leadership capable of restoring Oyo’s status as the true Pace Setter in governance, economic prosperity and human capital development.

He pledged that an ADP administration would undertake a comprehensive overhaul of the state’s governance structure, anchored on competence, transparency, empathy and collective responsibility.

“Our administration will introduce a total overhaul of the leadership and governance architecture of Oyo State. We shall pursue a development-driven agenda anchored on competence, accountability, empathy and collective responsibility,” he said.

The governorship candidate expressed confidence that the ADP would emerge as a formidable force in the 2027 election, saying the party offers a credible alternative to what he described as decades of ineffective leadership under the APC and PDP.
