President Bola Tinubu, a former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, The Imole Campaign Council (TICC), some loyalists of the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the just concluded governorship election in Osun State, Bola Oyebamiji, among others have congratulated Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on his victory in the August 15, 2026 poll.
President Tinubu’s congratulation, was confirmed the spokesperson of Imole Campaign Council and Accord Party chieftain, Pelumi Olajengbesi on Sunday while addressing journalists at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) collation centre in Osogbo after Adeleke was declared winner of the election.
He said Tinubu personally called Adeleke to congratulate him, adding that the President deserved commendation for allowing the election to take place without interference.
Olajengbesi said Tinubu had kept his promise to allow the people of Osun to freely choose their governor.
“The President congratulated Governor Adeleke last night,” he said.
The Guardian had reported that Adeleke secured 511,067 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the APC, who polled 444,815 votes.
The result gave Adeleke a winning margin of 66,252 votes.
His victory secures another term for the incumbent governor after a closely watched contest in which the APC sought to reclaim the state.
Despite praising Tinubu for what he described as non-interference, Olajengbesi criticised aspects of the electoral process.
He said the election could be described as credible but not entirely free and fair, citing violent incidents recorded in some parts of the state before and during the exercise.
Olajengbesi nevertheless commended the President for, according to him, allowing the election to proceed without political interference.
He expressed excitement at the victory and also congratulated Governor Ademola Adeleke on behalf of the Campaign Council.
The Campaign Council spokesman said, “I am super excited. This is the Lord’s doing; this is the manifestation of God’s hand; this is the will of the people of Osun State. I am glad because this election has clearly shown that Governor Ademola Adeleke is the man of the people.”
Adeleke’s victory comes four years after he first won the Osun governorship election and further strengthens his political hold on the state.
Also, Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, hailed Adeleke’s victory, describing his re-election as choice of the people.
The former vice president said in a statement he posted on his verified social media handles on Sunday: “I congratulate Governor Ademola Adeleke on his re-election as Governor of Osun State.
His victory demonstrates the choice of the people of Osun as expressed at the ballot box. I commend the people for their passion and peaceful participation. I wish Governor Adeleke continued success as he continues to serve them. -AA”
Meanwhile, some loyalists of APC’s Oyebamiji have taken to their separate social media handles to felicitate with Governor Adeleke.
David Olufunsho Fagboungbe, a loyalist of Oyebamiji and key figure in the campaign activities, congratulated Adeleke, saying “This is Democracy.”
He wrote on his Facebook page on Sunday, “The only shameless people in this contest are pretenders who could not stand boldly with one person but now coming out to jubilate. I am always proud of myself to have stance on any political struggles.
This is Democracy! Those who can not take the pain of defeat don’t deserve to share in joy of victory.
So I don’t feel ashamed of my decisions always. Congratulations to the Winners once more. We move!”
Some other APC members have also congratulated the governor.
However, Bola Oyebamiji is yet to publicly react to Adeleke’s victory as of the time of filing this report.
